CD Baby

Posted May 31st, 2007

You can now obtain Okay at CD Baby. They have 5 copies so far, so please help me sell out!

If you’re not familiar with CD Baby, they are a record store for independent artists. They do an amazing job at it, too. I actually bought a CD from them a couple weeks ago and during the checkout process, they have a step that says, “Do you need anything else? Gift wrapping, a special note, anything? No request is too large.” Or at least it’s something like that. I simply said they needed to send me a Polaroid of something cool.

A couple days later (fast shipping, too) I got my CD and included in the package was a note that said, “Polaroids are hard to come by around here. Hope this works.” And they included one of the best pictures you’ve ever seen. I need to find it and post it. You’ll like it. Trust me. I’ll give you a hint: tattoos and mullets.

By the way, if you’re wanting to preview a couple more tracks, you can do so at the CD Baby page, or in the ugly little yellow and black music player there on the right. I’ve added a few new songs to that.

Okay Release

Posted May 26th, 2007

I just wanted to take a second and thank all the beautiful people who were at the CD release party last night. I had a blast and despite still trying to get over a cold, things went fairly well.

There was some video and audio taping, so I hope to get something online in the next few days from the event. You guys are the best.

Thanks to Jimbo’s Take 2. It’s really a special venue. I’ll be going back to see some blues soon, I’m sure.

I hope you guys can make it to the CD release party. It’s going to be a blast.

Chris Como is opening and you need to watch for this guy. He’s got talent. Check out his myspace and listen to “All Good.” Catchy little song. Chris is an artistic guy and excellent songwriter. I’m excited to have him join me for tonight.

Chris will be doing a live set of his music at 7p. He’s also playing in the band with me and the other talented folks I’ve highlighted on my blog this week.

The venue is Jimbo’s Take 2. Here’s a link to it on Google Maps.

While I’m doling out links and well-wishes, I also want to say thanks to the CD designer, Luke Flowers. The discs look amazing. He’s also a musician and talented singer and songwriter. You’ll want to check out his stuff too.

Also, Blue and the folks at Nationwide Disc came through in a big way to get all the discs here very quickly. Thanks!

And finally, Randy Ruebsamen has donated a lot of time to this project as well. Heartfelt gratitude to Randy for giving me a place to mix and adding some much needed experience to the engineering side of this project.

I Don’t Wanna Work…

Posted May 24th, 2007

Friday is my CD release party and we had our final rehearsal tonight. Let me just say this: the music is going to sound amazing. Even if you don’t care for the way I sing, you are going to need to come out just for the band. The talent pool is deep. And I think there may be juggling and even a tricycle involved somehow. That’s all I’m going to say.

On the drums is my good friend Jon Collins. Jon has crazy skills and is responsible for the studio recordings of my CD. There’s nothing uninteresting about his playing. He’s not flashy, but he’s never boring. I don’t know how to say it. Several of these songs are built on groove and Jon can bring it.

Jon is also an amazing graphic designer and very talented photographer. Besides the drums, he plays every other instrument. He has recorded for and plays with Inner Tapestry and he’s involved in a previously secretive art-rock project called Flinthead. Check it out. It’s pretty cool.

And you should ask him about the amazing shaker solo he once performed.
