Italian Love by Pensiero

My new CD was reviewed by the newspaper yesterday. In case you missed it, they had some nice things to say.

Jeff Caylor calls his music “acoustic soul,” which is a nice handle to describe the range he covers. The Colorado Springs musician recently released his debut album, “Okay,” and it showcases a talent local music fans will want to get to know better.

He is a folkie who, unlike many of his brethren, embraces rhythmic complexity. It’s clear from the first track, “Almost Flew,” with the sweet groove of the acoustic guitar, bass, hand drums and maracas forming a rich backdrop for his vocals.

The review wrapped up like this:

All in all, the musical journey is far better than “Okay.”

Thanks, Gazette and Bill Reed! If you’d like to check the complete review, it’s still online here.

Last night I played Nemo’s with Leora Gardner. It was a lot of fun. Everyone was super-nice and really good at multiplying. You can’t say that about every crowd, trust me. Thanks for coming out, if you made it. I’m looking forward to going back in a couple weeks on July 14 (we’ll have a bassist and drummer that night, too). The music is free and the coffee is really good. What more could you want?

Seriously, about the coffee: they totally know what they are doing and JD is a really creative barista. Are you allowed to call a man a barista? Anyway, he made me a couple improv drinks that were great. If you live anywhere near downtown, or happen to be driving down there, be sure to stop in and support this great new business!

Well, if you’re not in line for the iPhone right now, you probably aren’t getting one tonight. So why not make good use of your evening and enjoy some local live music?

I’m at Nemo’s Coffee Shop doing a couple sets of music tonight. Mostly originals. Come on out and join in the fun!

Live Music Tomorrow!

Posted June 28th, 2007

In case it’s not already on your calendar, I’m playing at Nemo’s Coffee Shop tomorrow night from about 6:30p to 9p. Leora Gardner will be joining me and she’ll be performing a couple pieces of her own.

Here’s a map to the place–it’s just East of Union on Pikes Peak Ave. Turn left (north) from Pikes Peak at Printers Parkway. Can’t miss it! I hope to see you there.

This is a wonderful little place in Downtown Colorado Springs. It’s attached to a restaurant called Poor Richards. Should be a fun set.

Song Stories 1 - Perspective

By photochiel - click for flickr page

For me, the song “Perspective” is about trying to understand things from God’s point of view. We exist in a limited understand of what’s going on here. Whether we believe in God or not, a lot of us probably wonder if things would look differently to us now if we had a perspective of circumstances outside of time and space. We’ve all experienced things that seemed like they would kill us, but somehow we survive. It’s the difference between hopelessness and realizing things will be OKAY. This song is about attempting to see things from another point of view to gain some understanding and to grow. Read Full Entry
