Press and Show Notes
My new CD was reviewed by the newspaper yesterday. In case you missed it, they had some nice things to say.
Jeff Caylor calls his music “acoustic soul,” which is a nice handle to describe the range he covers. The Colorado Springs musician recently released his debut album, “Okay,” and it showcases a talent local music fans will want to get to know better.
He is a folkie who, unlike many of his brethren, embraces rhythmic complexity. It’s clear from the first track, “Almost Flew,” with the sweet groove of the acoustic guitar, bass, hand drums and maracas forming a rich backdrop for his vocals.
The review wrapped up like this:
All in all, the musical journey is far better than “Okay.”
Thanks, Gazette and Bill Reed! If you’d like to check the complete review, it’s still online here.
Last night I played Nemo’s with Leora Gardner. It was a lot of fun. Everyone was super-nice and really good at multiplying. You can’t say that about every crowd, trust me. Thanks for coming out, if you made it. I’m looking forward to going back in a couple weeks on July 14 (we’ll have a bassist and drummer that night, too). The music is free and the coffee is really good. What more could you want?
Seriously, about the coffee: they totally know what they are doing and JD is a really creative barista. Are you allowed to call a man a barista? Anyway, he made me a couple improv drinks that were great. If you live anywhere near downtown, or happen to be driving down there, be sure to stop in and support this great new business!
