My Tartar Rant

I’m officially done with toothpaste that doesn’t boast tartar control. Why even sell the stuff? If you don’t have any kind of whitening agent in your paste, I may consider it, but why not just put it all in there? Nobody cares about Original Formula any more. This isn’t Coke. Consider this my warning, Proctor and Gamble.

By the way, same goes for my kitty litter. I will never prefer the normal variety now that you’ve created “multi-cat” formula with stronger deoderizing power (even though I only own one cat). Trust me, he can stink like 5 cats some days.

I touched an iPhone.

Posted July 2nd, 2007

Yesterday, my friend Jon showed me his new iPhone. I got to hold it. And browse the internet. And watch the video of the skateboarding dog on it. And listen to music on it.

Oddly, the splinter in my right big toe did not go away. My schedule is still as busy as it ever was. And I feel a little lacking in energy today. Consequently, the jury is still out on how much better it actually made my life.

However, it’s probably the single-coolest hand held device I’ve ever seen. It’s everything you’ve seen in the commercials. Apple has changed phones forever. Fortunately for me, the Sprint Ambassador Program has upped the ante again and I’m going to be distracted telecommunication-wise for a few more months.

Aggregation: Musiclovr.com

Posted July 1st, 2007

Seems like I have been saying a word a lot lately when I talk about the web: Aggregation. I’m talking about a site’s ability to collect a bunch of data, automatically, and serve it up in a useful way.

One site I’ve been watching is called musiclovr.com. They have an interesting aggregation of album art, photos, videos, biographical info and song samples on just about any artist you enter. If you like them, there’s a link to buy at iTunes or Amazon. Additionally, the site takes advantage of the last.fm “audio scrobbler” data to connect you to other artists you might also like. This kind of mash-up of internet data is really what makes the web valuable, in my opinion. Sure, you could search in three or four places online and get this info, but why would you when you can get it in one place?

The site is still in beta, but I think there’s a ton of potential for it to become an excellent resource when looking for new music or just finding collected information about an artist you already like.

By the way, while you’re there, check out their artist of the month for July….
